Connect – mid career artists

Monday, 29 October 2018 from 16:30-19:00
Ovalhouse, 52-54 Kennington Oval, SE11 5SW London, United Kingdom

This is an event for self described mid career middle aged artists (here meaning those who make their own work) particularly those with caring responsibilities. I need to become a benevolent Tony Soprano, providing for my family, but despite regularly working 16 hour days, working through sickness, and making art Im proud of, I seem to be encountering many ceilings. My work doesn’t have the impact or growth potential I’d like it to, and i’m dangerously unsupported. Although the neoliberal way is to put that responsibility on the self, ‘Im an old fashioned socialist and Id like us, collectively, to come up with some solutions to offer to funders venues and each other so we can be heard. Midcareer and over here, that’s us.
